OUR HISTORY

Church History

Anniston Full Gospel Holy Temple Church is rich in history. This rich heritage includes both the building and ministry. This location starts with the ministry of McCoy Methodist Church. The church was started in West Anniston. Relocation to the site on Moore Avenue was accomplished in 1915. It was known briefly as Second Methodist Episcopal Church, South; but the name was soon changed to McCoy Memorial Methodist Episcopal Church, South. The church was named after the late Bishop James McCoy. In 1914, McCoy Methodist Church purchased a lot at 19th Street and Moore Avenue, Anniston, Alabama. This lot was purchased under the leadership of Rev. S. L. Pruitt who served as the Pastor from 1913-1916. The church was moved to that lot in 1915. The first service in the new church at the corner of 19th Street and Moore Avenue was on Sunday May 30, 1915. In 1945, E.B. Ogburn began making plans for a new educational building. The old annex was torn down and construction began in 1950 under the ministry of Rev. B. Guy Smith. The building was opened for service on Easter Sunday of 1952. This building now serves as the lower sanctuary of Anniston Full Gospel Holy Temple.

The Ministry

The Back To The Bible MRFC of Anniston, Alabama ministry began in the basement of Deacon Macy Carr’s home from 1980 to 1987. As the attendees grew, the search for a building begun. On September 24, 1987 Back To The Bible MRFC Inc. Anniston, Alabama purchased the lot at 19th and Moore Avenue, Anniston, Alabama. During the church’s history, we had several interim Pastors. They include Rev. Walter Carr, Rev. Stevie Houston and Rev. Eric Hubbard. In 1992, Rev. Macy Carr served as interim Pastor and would later be placed as the permanent Pastor of the Back To The Bible MRFC of Anniston, Alabama (now Anniston Full Gospel Holy Temple).

The Continuation

After the passing of the late Apostle Raymond Moss Sr., the church later united with Full Gospel Holy Temple of Dallas, Texas under the leadership of the late Apostle Lobias Murray. On July 29, 2010 the church name was changed to Anniston Full Gospel Holy Temple. Under the dynamic leadership of Bishop Macy Carr and Evangelist Lana T. Carr, the church has achieved many accomplishments. The church is debt-free with the burning of the mortgage December 12, 2000 and has purchased several church vehicles, two (2) community properties and a church home. As the church continues to flourish, we have increased our Outreach Ministry. Our involvement in the school system, community, and neighborhood has allowed us to help many people. We have also launched out on social media, endeavoring to reach the lost at all cost for Christ.
